The word “church” in the New Testament means “called out ones.” In the fall of 2000 as a handful of families attending Harvest Bible Chapel, we began to meet for Bible Study and pray in each other’s homes. With the assistance of Harvest Bible Chapel we began holding worship services as Burke Community Bible Church in June 2001 at Liberty Middle School and later at Patton High School. A year later, David Doster was called to join with us as our first pastor. The church purchased land (for $1) at the corner of Hwy 18 and Believer’s Way. In 2018, construction began on a new building to be occupied in the spring of 2019 The church also changed its name from BCBC to Gateway Bible. We are not only located at I-40 Exit 105 - the gateway to Morganton and the mountains, but the church strives to be the gateway for all to come into a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. From the inception, the Lord has graciously provided for our every need and been drawing individuals and families from various backgrounds to join us in this exciting journey of faith.
